In November, the national average wholesale price of 28 types of vegetables monitored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs was 4.58 yuan per kilogram, a month-on-month decrease of 5.8% and a year-on-year increase of 6.5%. In terms of varieties, the month-on-month prices of 19 categories decreased and 9 categories increased. Among them, the varieties with larger declines include spinach, Chinese cabbage and lettuce.

Experts predict that as temperatures drop and vegetable production shifts from open fields to greenhouses, planting costs will increase. In addition, with the arrival of peak consumption seasons such as New Year’s Day and Spring Festival, increased demand will cause vegetable prices to rise.
