Awareness Campaign on Crop Diversification for Tribal Farmers Under LIFE Mission

03 June 2024, Kolkata: ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey & Land Use Planning, Regional Centre, Kolkata, organized an awareness campaign for tribal farmers of Crop Diversification Project under ‘Mission – LiFE: Lifestyle for Environment’ at Jhargram district, West Bengal in collaboration with ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jhargram, today.

The tribal farmers have adopted the inclusion of pulses and oilseeds as rabi and pre-kharif crops after kharif rice to grow with residual moisture.

Scientists from ICAR-NBSS & LUP, Kolkata, and ICAR-KVK, Jhargram, discussed the benefits of crop diversification, including food security, resource conservation, and soil & environmental health protection. A leaflet on LiFE – Mission on Crop Diversification was distributed to tribal farmers in local languages.
