Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) visited ICAR- NBSS&LUP, Regional Centre, Kolkata

04 June 2024, Kolkata: Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR), visited the National Bureau of Soil Survey & Land Use Planning, Regional Centre, Kolkata, today. While interacting with the staff at the Centre he emphasized the need for new tools and techniques for efficient soil survey and land resource inventory. He also urged the adoption of real-time land use planning models through multiple partnership programmes. Dr. Pathak accentuated brainstorming sessions among ICAR institutes for collaborative projects on environmental degradation monitoring and climate change impacts.

Dr. F. H. Rahman, Head, ICAR- NBSS&LUP, Regional Centre, Kolkata, briefed the achievements of the Regional Centre for the last two years highlighting the Centre’s externally generated substantial funds.

Dr. Gouranga Kar, Director, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibers, Barrackpore, Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, scientists and staff of ICAR-NBSS&LUP, RC Kolkata, scientists of ICAR-CRIJAF and other ICAR institutes situated at Kolkata were present in the programme.
