Training Program on Integrated Fish Farming for Sustainable Livelihood Security Concluded

28 June 2024, Palampur: A three-day training on fish farming at Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Krishi Visvavidyalaya, Palampur was concluded today. The training was organized by Department of Fishries, Dr GCN College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. The Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor Dr. D.K.Vatsa, by presenting certificates to 50 participating farmers of nearby villages. While addressing the trainees, the Vice Chancellor stressed the need for such training to promote fisheries and advised the participating farmers to adopt fish farming as an entrepreneur along with agriculture and animal husbandry. Guest of Honour, Dean of the College, Dr. Ravindra Kumar, besides giving information about the benefits of including fish in human diet, gave information about the new technologies of fish farming in India. Head of the Department of Fisheries, Dr. Prasenjit Dhar, gave detailed information about this training. He said that a total of nine lectures were delivered in this three-day training programme and a visit to various departments was also conducted. Dr. Madhu Sharma and Dr. Tarang Kumar Shah were the main resource persons during the training. This training program was sponsored by the National Fisheries Development Board.
